Micro Temperature Analyzing System for Food Production

This project is an IoT-based temperature monitoring system aimed at food production environments where precise temperature control is critical. Using an LM35 metal rod temperature sensor connected to NI myRIO, the system continuously measures temperatures in production or storage areas. Data is collected and transmitted via IoT to the NI software interface, allowing real-time monitoring and alert notifications if temperatures deviate from safe thresholds. The system ensures food safety, reduces spoilage, and demonstrates the integration of hardware sensors, IoT, and industrial software for automated environmental monitoring.

Project Overview

This project is an IoT-based temperature monitoring system aimed at food production environments where precise temperature control is critical. Using an LM35 metal rod temperature sensor connected to NI myRIO, the system continuously measures temperatures in production or storage areas. Data is collected and transmitted via IoT to the NI software interface, allowing real-time monitoring and alert notifications if temperatures deviate from safe thresholds. The system ensures food safety, reduces spoilage, and demonstrates the integration of hardware sensors, IoT, and industrial software for automated environmental monitoring.

The Challenge

Maintaining precise temperature readings and ensuring real-time monitoring through IoT was challenging due to sensor limitations and potential connectivity issues. Additionally, integrating NI myRIO with the alert system and ensuring timely notifications required careful configuration and testing.

The Solution

The LM35 sensor was calibrated and tested under different conditions, and robust IoT protocols were used to maintain consistent, real-time data transmission. The NI myRIO and software interface were configured to handle alert logic efficiently, ensuring users receive timely notifications when temperatures exceed safe thresholds.

Key Features

  • Real-time temperature monitoring
  • IoT-based data transmission
  • User alert notifications for unsafe temperature levels
  • Integration with NI software
  • Metal rod LM35 sensor for accurate measurements
  • Data logging and visualization
